Originally from Liberia, West Africa — when I could not find products in the U.S. that worked for my 4C texture, I went back to what I knew. I sourced West African palm kernel oil directly from Liberia and started making my own hair growth oil.
There was no website. No fancy launch. I sold that first product directly through Snapchat and Instagram — customers would DM me their orders and pay through Cash App. Word spread fast. The DMs kept coming. The demand kept growing.
KHALIDA was not built in a boardroom. It was built in my kitchen, in my DMs, one Cash App payment at a time. Every formula comes from a real need I experienced with my own hair — and the community that grew around it told me exactly what they needed next.
I didn't have a business plan. I had palm kernel oil from back home, a Snapchat account, and hair that needed something better.
